Enjoy town
Carloforte is a town best discovered on foot. Wander through its narrow streets, find niche cafés, local restaurants, and delicious bakeries - make sure to try the local focaccia, a tasty reminder of the town's Ligurian heritage and unique history.
Browse the artisan boutiques for handmade crafts and one-of-a-kind souvenirs, stroll along the harbour watching the boats gently sway on the water, or climb the old stairways leading to the historic fortified walls, where beautiful views open up over the town, the saline and the sea beyond.
Activities
Of course, there is plenty to explore by different means...
On foot, through scenic hiking trails. The best moment to enjoy hiking is in the between seasons (march to may and september to november)
By cycling routes across the island. In town there's a number of bike rentals to rent from both classic or electric.
By boat, participate in excursions and coastal tours: the tour of the island is a magical way to see in a few hours the stunning coastline. For the more romantic, we suggest the aperitivo boat tour at sunset where, with a bit of luck, you may encounter dolphins.
Beach and more
Whether you prefer long sandy beaches easily reached by car or secluded rocky coves where you can dive straight into crystal-clear waters, San Pietro offers an incredible variety of coastal landscapes.
For such a small island, the diversity is remarkable. Turquoise bays, dramatic cliffs, hidden swimming spots, and transparent waters rich in marine life make every corner of the coastline worth discovering. You could visit a different beach every day and still find new places to fall in love with.
