Experience the island.
The best way to experience San Pietro is simply to slow down and embrace the island's rhythm. Life moves at a gentler pace here. If you find yourself waiting in line, don't be surprised if a conversation starts with the person behind the counter—there's rarely any rush, and that's part of the charm.
Whether you prefer active adventures or quiet days by the sea, we'll be happy to help you plan your stay, either before your arrival or once you're on the island. Just let us know what you're looking for, and we'll gladly share our recommendations.
Carloforte is a town to be discovered on foot. Wander through its narrow streets, find lively cafés, restaurants, and bakeries, and be sure to try the local focaccia—a delicious reminder of the town's Ligurian heritage and unique history.
Browse the artisan boutiques for handmade crafts and one-of-a-kind souvenirs, stroll along the harbour watching the boats gently sway on the water, or climb the old stairways leading to the historic city walls, where beautiful views open up over the town, the saline and the sea beyond.
Of course, there is also plenty to explore:
Scenic hiking trails
Cycling routes across the island
Boat excursions and coastal tours
A different swimming spot every day
Whether you prefer long sandy beaches easily reached by car or secluded rocky coves where you can dive straight into crystal-clear waters, San Pietro offers an incredible variety of coastal landscapes.
For such a small island, the diversity is remarkable. Turquoise bays, dramatic cliffs, hidden swimming spots, and transparent waters rich in marine life make every corner of the coastline worth discovering. You could visit a different beach every day and still find new places to fall in love with.

Phill, Marta, and Chatu.
After many years in the Alps, running Orestes Hütte, the vegan mountain hut on Monte Rosa, we felt it was time for a change of scenery. We traded breathtaking mountains for breathtaking sea views and found ourselves on the island of San Pietro.
When we first discovered this abandoned house, surrounded by Mediterranean maquis and overlooking the sea and Isola del Toro—the southernmost point of Sardinia—we knew almost immediately that it was meant to become our home.
Over time, we transformed it into more than just a place to live. We created a small bed & breakfast immersed in nature, where guests can slow down, breathe in the scent of wild Mediterranean vegetation, listen to the sea breeze, and reconnect with themselves through the simplicity of island life.

He was born and raised in Australia. He moved to Italy in his thirties and has spent years turning ideas into reality. Creative and practical in equal measure, he can fix almost anything and has personally built many parts of the house and much of its furniture.
He is passionate about surfing and began shaping and testing his own wooden boards here on San Pietro. A dedicated meditator, he appreciates the island's peaceful atmosphere and the space it offers for a more mindful and spiritual way of living.

She grew up in Gressoney, surrounded by the peaks of the Alps. Her passions include nature, simple living, healthy plant-based cooking, and sharing meaningful experiences with others.
She has been practising yoga since her twenties and moved to San Pietro to continue building a life centred on simplicity, wellbeing, and a shared spiritual path with Phill.

Chatuchak—known to the most simply as Chatu—is our majestic Maine Coon cat and the most important member of the family.
Many guests from Orestes Hütte still ask about him. These days, he spends his time supervising the garden, inspecting every corner of the property, and searching for the sunniest spot for an afternoon nap.
